What we collect
When you use Daily Howdy, we collect:
- Account information: Email address, name, and password for caregivers. Seniors use device-bound sessions and may not have an email on file.
- Game data: Answers, scores, response times, and completion status for each daily round.
- Mood check-ins: Optional mood selections and notes you share with your partner.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, and push notification tokens for delivering daily reminders.
- Usage data: When you play, streak history, and feature usage to improve the product.
- Billing information: Your payment card details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
How we use your data
- To power the daily game experience, comparison views, and streaks.
- To generate trend data visible only to the caregiver in a partnership.
- To send daily reminders, missed-day alerts, weekly summaries, and partner notifications you've opted into.
- To process subscriptions and send billing receipts.
- To improve the product and fix bugs.
What we never do
- We never sell your data to anyone, and we never share it for targeted advertising.
- We never show ads or use your data for advertising.
- We never use advertising trackers. The only analytics we use are described below, and none of them run on the senior experience.
- We never share individual game data with third parties.
Who sees what
Within a partnership:
- Both partners see: comparison results (both answers side by side), mood check-ins, and streak data.
- Only the caregiver sees: the trend dashboard, missed-day alerts, and activity trend data.
- The senior never sees: the caregiver's trend dashboard or alerts. For them, the app is simply the daily games, comparison results, and streaks. Seniors are told what their caregiver can see when they accept their invitation.
Service providers
A small number of companies help us run Daily Howdy. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and none may use your data for its own purposes:
- Stripe — payment processing. Receives your payment details and billing email.
- Postmark — sends our transactional email (invitations, weekly summaries, receipts). Receives your name and email address.
- Google Analytics — usage analytics on this marketing site and the caregiver web app only (see Analytics below).
- Anthropic — we use Anthropic's Claude to help generate game and theme content. We do not send your personal information, answers, or moods to it.
- Cloud hosting providers — the servers and databases that run the app.
Analytics
This marketing website uses Google Analytics with Consent Mode v2. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them via the cookie banner. The caregiver web app also uses Google Analytics to understand feature usage; measurement is linked across our own two domains (dailyhowdy.com and app.dailyhowdy.com) only, never across other websites.
The senior experience carries no third-party analytics at all — not in the mobile apps and not on the senior game pages.
We use localStorage for cookie consent preference and theme settings — these are not transmitted to any server.
Data security
Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS). We use industry-standard security practices, limit access to production systems, and regularly review our safeguards.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your game data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account yourself at any time from Account Settings in the app, or by emailing us. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days and cancel any active subscription. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for product improvement.
Children's privacy
Daily Howdy is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, correct it, request deletion, or ask questions about our practices at any time by emailing hello@dailyhowdy.com. We respond within 30 days and will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.
If you live in California, Washington, or another state with a consumer privacy law, those laws may give you additional rights — including the right to know what we collect, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We don't sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but every other right can be exercised via the email above. If you believe we haven't resolved your concern, you may also contact your state attorney general.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify active users of significant changes via email.
